Description

Torremirona Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 championship course in Navata, in the heart of the Empordà (Girona), just 7 km from Figueres and set between the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees, whose peaks can be seen from much of the course. It was designed by Eugenio Aguado and Jordi Soler and opened in 1993, at the height of the Costa Brava golf boom. Surrounded by fields and woodland, the layout mixes lakes and bunkers with large greens full of tricky slopes and breaks; the best known is the 5th, a par 3 with an island green. It has hosted the European Tour Qualifying School, the International European Seniors and the Spanish Under-35 Championship. The practice area includes a 350-metre driving range, a bunker, a green and a full practice hole, and the golf school is run by the resident pro Steve Scott, with video analysis. The 1993 clubhouse is built in traditional stone architecture and has a shop stocking the leading brands; the resort also includes the four-star TorreMirona Hotel Relais beside the 1st hole and a Fitness & Spa with pools, a thermal circuit, padel and tennis.
